The School

The Scuola Italiana Pizzaioli is one of the oldest most prestigious pizza schools in Italy and was founded in 1988. With over 20 schools worldwide the Scuola Italiana Pizzaioli has certified pizza chefs from all over the world. Now the Scuola Italiana Pizzaioli has a permanent new home in San Francisco, California along with The International School of Pizza and The United States School of Pizza.

Our school is located within North Beach, San Francisco at our main restaurant locations Tony’s Pizza Napoletana, The Slice House, and Capo’s. During each class, students learn a variety of techniques in a practical environment. Depending on the style of pizza being taught, students will work on the line in the restaurant during service to better learn the best way to make pizza under pressure ensuring they leave with confidence and knowledge to either open a new restaurant, improve upon a pre-existing concept, or make great pizza at home. Each class is between 8-10 students with Tony as the master instructor and two teaching assistants ensuring everyone receives plenty of one on one attention as well as enough space to learn from those around them. For five days students are immersed in the world of pizza with each day averaging 7-8 hours. No prior kitchen experience is required to attend. The only thing we ask is that you come with an open mind, ready to get a little dirty, and prepared to learn everything you’ve wanted to learn about pizza and more.
